PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wave activated power generating device allowing efficient power generation by simple structure. SOLUTION: A float 7 is connected to the lower end of a shaft 2 having a bar permanent magnet 2a through a connecting shaft 10. By vertical movement caused by the wave motion W of the float 7, the shaft 2 is repeatedly vertically moved while passing through the hollow center of a coil 6 with a built-in conductive coil fixed so as to overhang from a revetment. A fixed period To for the repetitive vertical movement of the shaft part 2 of the generating device 1 is set to a wave periodic band in which electrical energy becomes the maximum, based on the period, the amplitude and the appearance ratio of a wave appearing for a prescribed period in a sea area in which the generating device 1 is installed.
