PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust passage structure for an internal combustion engine, preventing scattering of condensed water generated from exhaust gas and element crack of an exhaust sensor such as a linear air fuel ratio sensor and O2 sensor. SOLUTION: This exhaust passage structure for the internal combustion engine is provided with a retention part 22d which is formed in the upstream side from the exhaust sensor 40 detecting exhaust components and where condensed water generated from exhaust gas is retained; a hole 22b which is formed on the retention part 22d and in which the retained condensed water is flowed; and a water storing chamber 22d for storing the condensed water flowed down from the hole 22b.
