A taper plug assembling apparatus is provided to prevent damage of a circumference of a bore of a cylinder block caused due to the erroneous assembly of a taper plug and the bore of the cylinder block, by applying a rated torque when the taper plug is assembled. A taper plug assembling apparatus comprises a feeding unit(10), a transfer unit(16), an assembling unit(22), a temporary assembly error reading unit(24), and a controller(26). The feeding unit supplies a taper plug(12). The transfer unit includes a frame member(18) fixed in a work field; and a guide member(20) arranged to be movable in a vertical direction with respect to the frame member. The guide member has a guide groove, and transfers the taper plug supplied from the feeding unit to the assembly position. The assembling unit assembles the taper plug transferred to the assembly position to a workpiece. The temporary assembly error reading unit is arranged on the guide member of the transfer unit so as to detect an error of the temporary assembly between the taper plug and the assembling unit. The controller is arranged to control the vertical movement of the guide member with respect to the frame member, judges an error of the temporary assembly between the taper plug and the assembling unit detected by the temporary assembly error reading unit, and starts operation of the assembling unit if it is judged as having no error. |
