HANDOFF SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DUAL MODE TERMINAL

A handoff system in a dual mode MN and a method thereof are provided to transmit COA of a router and a message including basic information on the MN, information on each network and information about whether to transcode currently-provided contents to an HA, thereby providing a user with a seamless and stable service by receiving currently-provided data so as to be matched with a bandwidth suitable for a new network. A handoff system in a dual mode MN(Mobile Node)(30) comprises the followings: the dual mode MN(30) which receives a message including COA(Care Of Address) from a router(20) of the second network(B) during handoff from the first network(A) to the second network(B), and transmits a registration request message including the COA of the router(20); and an HA(Home Agent)(40) which transcodes data, transmitted from a CN(Correspondent Node)(50), according to information included in the registration request message, transmitted from the dual mode MN(30), so as to be suitable for a bandwidth of the second network(B), and transmits the transcoded data to the dual mode MN(30).
