LITHIUM RECHARGEABLE BATTERY

Provided is a lithium secondary battery which is improved in the mechanical strength, expansion resistance, shrinkage resistance and heat resistance of a separator and is enhanced in the stability of a battery. The lithium secondary battery comprises a positive electrode; a negative electrode; a separator which separates the positive electrode and the negative electrode; and a nonaqueous electrolyte solution, wherein the separator comprises a porous membrane comprising a ceramic material and a binder. The binder has an elongation of 200-300 %. Preferably the binder is an acryl rubber prepared by the crosslinking reaction of a polymer or copolymer of an acrylic main monomer and a crosslinkable co-monomer.
