A curable composition, ideally for use in dental or medical applications, comprises 10-90 % by weight of at least one acrylic monomer and 1-60 % by weight of an olefinic component. The olefinic component comprises oligomers or polymers of at least one olefin and may be straight chain or branched and has 4-6 carbon atoms and one or two double bonds in the parent monomer. The preferred acrylic monomer is selected from: diurethane dimethacrylate, ethoxylated bis-phenol-A dimethacrylate (EBA), 2,2-bis[4-(2-hydroxy-3 -methacryloylpropoxy0phenyl]propane (GMA), hydroxyethyl methacrylate, hydroxypropyl methacrylate, hydroxybutyl methacrylate, and tetrahydrofurfuryl methacrylate. The preferred olefinic component is polybutene, polybutadiene or polyisoprene. The preferred use of the composition is a dental material and is applied to the relevant surface and then cured in situ. |
