A semi-transmissive type LCD is provided to improve the reflectance and the reflective ratio in a reflective mode, thereby achieving the improvement of display quality, by forming a sub-black matrix on one side of a color filter layer. An upper substrate includes a color filter layer(111) and a black matrix(112). A lower substrate is disposed to face the upper substrate at a predetermined distance, and has a transmissive area and a reflective area. A liquid crystal layer is interposed between the upper substrate and the lower substrate. A sub-black matrix(113) is disposed at a boundary portion between the transmissive area and the reflective area and on one side of the color filter layer.
