An image stabilizer IS is disclosed for an optical element 60 held by a holder 21 which is guided in a guide direction orthogonal to an optical axis. An image shake counteracting driving device moves the image stabilizing optical element so as to counteract image shake and comprises a first X-direction moving member 75 and a second X-direction moving member 76, movable relative to the first member by a drive source 170x. A moving element control mechanism 81x resiliently connects the first and second moving members to each other to allow the first and second moving members to selectively move integrally or relative to each other in accordance with a magnitude of a resistance to a movement between the drive source and the holder. |
