A recording medium of a probe type information storing apparatus, a recording method, a reproducing method, and an erasing method are provided to significantly raise the recording density by additively forming a metal-insulator phase change thin film on a phase change thin film. A lower electrode(110) is positioned on a silicon substrate(100). A phase change thin film(120) is positioned on the lower electrode(110), wherein the phase change thin film(120) has a crystalline state. A metal-insulator phase change thin film(130) is positioned on the phase change thin film(120). The lower electrode(110) is formed of any one of Pt, Au, and an amorphous carbon thin film.
