A method of treating a woven fabric includes applying heat and pressure to t he fabric (12) in such a manner that the yarn strands substantially "across" the widen of the fabric are forced closer together th us imparting generally semi-permanent or permanent "ease" or stretch into the fabric. Apparatus for carrying out this process is also disclosed, as well as a waistband construction utilising the treated fabric.
