A recording method of a VCR(Video Cassette Recorder) is provided to record a start viss mark and an end viss mark at a recording start time and a recording end time, thus a user is able to search data by using the end viss mark even though the data are overlapped in an area where the start viss mark is recorded. When a video cassette tape is inserted into a VCR system, the system decides whether a recording key signal is inputted(S200,S202). If so, the system records a start viss mark on a control track of the inserted video cassette tape(S204,S208). The system decides whether a recording end key for finishing the recording is inputted(S210,S212). If so, the system records an end viss mark on the control track of the inserted video cassette tape(S214).
