A sled home-in state detection method in an optical disk reproducing system is provided to detect a sled home-in state by using a back EMF(Electromotive Force) signal of a radial servo in the optical disk reproducing system, thus the sled home-in state is effectively detected without a sled home-in detector. When a loading detection signal of an optical disk is inputted, preset sled state information is extracted(202-206). A back EMF signal of a radial servo is measured according to the preset sled state information, and a sled home-in state is checked(208). If the current state is not the sled home-in state, a sled is moved to the inner circumference of the optical disk(210). A disk type of the optical disk is discriminated, and servo control is carried out according to the discriminated disk type(212,214).
