An LCD device and a driving method thereof are provided to prevent personal information from leaking to other people by allowing a user to selectively control a viewing angle or to selectively drive a wide viewing angle driving mode or a narrow viewing angle driving mode. A backlight unit(140) provides light. A viewing angle control unit(120) receives light provided from the backlight unit, and controls spacial distribution of the incident light and transmits the light. A liquid crystal panel(110) receives light transmitted from the viewing angle control unit, and displays an image. The viewing angle control unit includes a first polarizer(117) polarizing incident light in a first direction, transmission light control units(123,125,127) receiving light polarized by the first polarizer, and control spacial distribution of the incident light and transmitting the light, a second polarizer(121) receiving light transmitted from the transmission light control units, a lenticular sheet(131) transmitting light incident from the second polarizer. |
