A remote control apparatus of an electronic instrument and a method thereof are provided to simultaneously generate an infrared signal and a supersonic signal having the same control command code for one remote control function, and to receive the signals to perform an operation control function of an electronic instrument corresponding to a user's operation, only when infrared code data is identical with supersonic code data. An operation signal for controlling an operation of an electronic instrument is generated(202,204). A supersonic signal having the same control command code as an infrared signal corresponding to the operation signal is simultaneously generated and wirelessly delivered(206). The delivered infrared and supersonic signals are received and demodulated, so that infrared code data and supersonic code data are extracted, respectively(208,210). It is checked whether the extracted data are the same(212). If so, a control command of the electronic instrument is given(214,218).
