An LCD is provided to improve the initial response speed of liquid crystal molecules, by adopting an alignment layer, in which a liquid crystalline material is coupled with a side chain or a main chain of an existing alignment material. An LCD comprises an alignment layer(101) for aligning liquid crystal molecules(103). A liquid crystalline material(X) is coupled with at least one of a main chain and a side chain of an alignment material constituting the alignment layer. The liquid crystalline material is driven in the same directivity as the liquid crystal molecules by the same electric field. |
