A method for driving a liquid crystal display(LCD) panel is provided to prevent light from leaking from the LCD panel by inverting the polarity of a common voltage at every frame. A common voltage, whose polarity is inverted for every horizontal synchronous period, is supplied to a common electrode of an LCD panel, which is driven by gate lines. The common voltage of negative polarity is supplied to the common electrode during one vertical synchronous period, when all the gate lines are driven. Then, the common voltage, whose polarity is inverted for every horizontal synchronous period, is supplied to the common electrode, after the common voltage of negative polarity is supplied to the common electrode. A pixel voltage for displaying a black image is supplied to pixel electrodes, which are connected to data lines crossing the gate lines.
