The packing system for transporting bottles, optionally in the form of shrink-wrapped four- or six packs, comprises trays (1) with contours (2 -5) which support the bases of bottles in packs and seatings (6) for the necks of single bottles. The undersides of the trays have seatings for the necks of bottles in shrink-wrapped packs and for the bases of single bottles, allowing stacks of packs or single bottles, when the trays are inverted, to be formed.
