A liquid crystal display device and a method for fabricating the same are provided to reduce the number of masks used for the manufacture of thin film transistors by contacting drain electrodes with an ohmic contact layer and pixel electrodes at the same time through one contact hole in a top gate structure. A substrate(110) is prepared. An active layer(120') is formed on the substrate and an ohmic contact layer is formed on the active layer. A first insulator film is formed on a front of the substrate. Gate electrodes(121) are formed on the substrate. A second insulator film is formed on a front of the substrate. Pixel electrodes(118) are formed on the substrate. A third insulator film is formed on a front of the substrate. The first insulator film, the second insulator film, and the third insulator film are partially removed to expose a part of the ohmic contact layer. Source and drain electrodes(122,123) are formed to electrically contact with the ohmic contact layer through contact holes(140A,140B). |
