A portable terminal having a multi-editing function and a method for operating the same are provided to increase the convenience of users by inputting contents to be edited for a plurality of menu items in common and editing the menu items through one editing process. A portable terminal having a multi-editing function comprises a keypad(24), a memory(25), a control part(26), and a display part(27). The keypad(24) has a plurality of keys to input numeric and text information and a specific key associated with a multi-editing mode. The memory(25) stores phone numbers, names, groups, and bell configuration information according to a program related to the multi-editing mode and a phone book management menu. The control part(26) controls an overall operation to apply the information inputted to edit according to the multi-editing mode to multi-selected items and to edit it. The display part(27) displays the messages generated in the middle of executing the program under the control of the control part(26). |
