An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) and a method of manufacturing the LCD are provided to reduce the number of masks used to manufacture a thin film transistor and form a storage capacitor without having an additional mask process. An active layer(124') having a source region, a drain region and a channel region is formed on a substrate. A first insulating layer is formed on the substrate. A gate electrode(121), a gate line(116) and a pixel electrode(118) are formed on the substrate. A second insulating layer is formed on the substrate. The first and second insulating layers are selectively removed to form a first contact hole(140A) exposing a portion of the source region and a second contact hole(140B) exposing a portion of the drain region. A source electrode(122) electrically connected to the source region through the first contact hole is formed on the substrate. A drain electrode(123) electrically connected to the drain region through the second contact hole is formed on the substrate. |
