A honeycomb structured body and an exhaust gas purifying apparatus are provided to improve resistance against pressure applied to an outer surface of the honeycomb structured body. A honeycomb structured body(10) comprises a cylindrical honeycomb structured block including honeycomb structured units(20,200) in which a plurality of cells are arranged in parallel with each other with a cell wall interposed between cells. The honeycomb structured block has an outer surface where a sealing layer(11) is formed. The honeycomb structured body and the honeycomb structured block have outer surfaces with convex-concaves. The honeycomb structured unit includes inorganic particles, inorganic fiber and/or whisker. Formula 0.3mm<=M1 is satisfied, wherein M1=D1-D2, wherein D1 is the distance between the center(c1) of the least square curve obtained by a least square method and a concentric least circumscribed curve having the center(c1) of the least square curve, and D2 is the distance between the center of the least square curved and a concentric maximum circumscribed curve having the center of the least square curve. Formula 0.5mm<=M2<=7.0mm is satisfied, wherein M2=D3-D4, wherein D3 is the distance between the center(c2) of the least square curve obtained by a least square method and a concentric least circumscribed curve having the center(c2) of the least square curve, and D4 is the distance between the center of the least square curved and a concentric maximum circumscribed curve having the center of the least square curve. |
