With respect to a process for producing a porous material containing apatite/collagen composite fiber through gelation of a dispersion containing an apatite/collagen composite fiber, collagen and water, freezing or drying of the obtained gel into a porous body and crosslinking of the collagen of the porous body, there is provided a method comprising controlling the average pore diameter of the porous material by a gel coagulation time during the freezing operation.
