PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent cracking by drying and separation of a surface waterproof layer and a recess-projection layer, by reducing a variation in strength in a backing material for construction. SOLUTION: The surface waterproof layer 3 is arranged on a surface of a base board 2 composed of a fiber board, and the recess-projection layer 4 is also arranged on its layer, and this backing material 1 for construction is formed by arranging a butt end processing layer 5 on a butt end surface of the base board by using a synthetic rubber-based or synthetic resin-based processing agent.
