PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove 1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoroisopropyl alcohol contained in fluoromethyl-1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoroisopropyl ether. SOLUTION: The method involves bringing the fluoromethyl-1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoroisopropyl ether having≤0.25 wt.% content of the 1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoroisopropyl alcohol into contact with a basic aqueous solution containing a basic material in an amount regulated so that the equivalent ratio of [the basic material]/[the 1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoroisopropyl alcohol] may be≥1 within the temperature range of 0-60°C. As a result, the fluoromethyl-1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoroisopropyl ether having≤1 ppm content of the 1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoroisopropyl alcohol can be obtained. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
