A top plate protecting structure for a gas range is provided to improve durability of a glass top plate by arranging a top plate protecting unit at the inner end and bottom surface of the glass top plate. A top plate protecting structure for a gas range, comprises a burner unit(10) and a glass top plate(20). The burner unit has a lower portion with a burner body and an upper portion with a burner head(12). The glass top plate has a movement hole(21) communicated to the burner body of the burner unit. The glass top plate is arranged beneath the burner head so that the glass top plate closes an interior of the gas range. A top plate protecting unit(30) for protecting the glass top plate, is arranged at an inner end of the movement hole of the glass top plate and a bottom surface of the body burner. The top plate protecting unit includes a sealing member(31) arranged on an outer surface of the movement hole of the glass top plate, and a tension plate(32) arranged beneath the burner body.
