The invention relates to a method for determining geometric parameters of a conical object to be measured, using a coordinate measuring device; said method comprises the following steps: determining spatial coordinates at a plurality of measuring points (52, 54) of the object to be measured; determining a substitute element (62') for the object to be measured using the spatial coordinates of the measuring points (52, 54); using the substitute element (62') to determine the geometric parameters of the object to be measured.
