The invention relates to an X-ray detector comprising a substrate (1) which is permeable to X-rays and impermeable to humidity and to which a scintillator layer (2) is applied, and a photosensor (3) which is arranged downstream of the scintillator layer (2). The substrate (1) is embodied as a scintillator envelope and surrounds the scintillator layer (2) on the sides opposing the photosensor (3). One such X-ray detector is characterised by good protection against humidity and can be produced in a technically simple manner and easily disassembled as required.
