PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical component that makes highly accurate positioning possible in the in-plane direction and the height direction of a substrate and of a waveguide circuit element, when the element is mounted on the substrate. SOLUTION: The optical component is equipped with a substrate 31 in which a V groove 32 is formed and a waveguide circuit element 34 in which a notch structure 35 is formed. The notch structure 35 contains a material which, when heated, makes the structure 35 deformed at least in a region in contact with the wall face of the V groove 32. With such constitution, the substrate 31 is positioned in the in-plane direction by fitting the V groove 32 to the notch structure 35. After fitting, the notch structure 35 is heated to deform the region thereof, so that the substrate 31 is positioned in the height direction. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
