PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a zoom lens excellent in image forming performance with simple constitution, and to provide a thin and wide-viewing-angle zoom lens suitable for a digital camera and a video camera, and an electronic imaging apparatus using the same. SOLUTION: The zoom lens has at least a first lens group G1 comprising two lens components and a second lens group G2 comprising one lens component in order from an object side. When varying power, at least space between the first lens group and the second lens group is changed. The first lens group and the second lens group both have aspherical lens surfaces, and at least one aspherical surface (aspherical surface A) of the aspherical surfaces of the first lens group satisfies an expression: R<SB>1</SB>/h<SB>1</SB><1.35. In the expression, R<SB>1</SB>is the paraxial radius of curvature of the aspherical surface A, and h<SB>1</SB>is a distance between an optical axis and an intersection (a) of the aspherical surface A with the most off-axis principal ray made incident so that its incident angle from the object side may be≥36°and reaching an image surface when passing through the aspherical surface A at a wide angle end.
