PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel configuration of a gateway adopting a multi-processor system to carry out load distribution processing and a processing method in the gateway. SOLUTION: The gateway includes: a plurality of physical termination drivers 16A to 16C individually connected to a plurality of networks 9A to 9C individually connected to the physical termination drivers 16A to 16C; a plurality of protocol controllers 15A to 15C individually connected to the physical termination drivers 16A to 16C; a plurality of load balancers 14A to 14C individually connected to the protocol controllers 15A to 15C and applying load distribution processing to a plurality of CPUs #0 to #n; and a plurality of the CPUs individually connected to the load balancers 14A to 14C, and each load balancer is configured to select a CPU for executing data transfer processing among the CPUs on the basis of a frame ID of a frame and to allow the selected CPU to execute the load distribution processing of the data transfer processing.
