PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a polycyclic (meth)acrylate, by which polymerization and production of a polymer are inhibited to prevent the discoloration of the obtained polycyclic (meth)acrylate. SOLUTION: This method for producing the polycyclic (meth)acrylate comprises reacting acrylic acid or methacrylic acid with a polycyclic alcohol in the presence of (A) a strong acid catalyst, (B) hypophosphorous acid or its salt, (C) metal copper, cupric chloride, or copper sulfate, and (D) a phenolic polymerization initiator. The method for producing the polycyclic (meth)acrylate gives a good result, when the polycyclic alcohol contains a tertiary carbon in its skeleton. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
