<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmission system capable of facilitating an optical fiber installation work and maintenance in the FTTH. <P>SOLUTION: The optical transmission system installs an optical fiber (11) from an optical signal transmitter to a user's house to carry out transmission of an optical signal and includes: an outdoor installed apparatus (10) provided to outside the user's house such as on a wall or under the eaves of the user's house and for converting the optical signal transmitted through the optical fiber into an electric signal; and a coaxial cable (13) installed over the inside and outside of the house to transmit the electric signal into the house. Thus, it is not required to install the optical fiber (11) inside the user's house to reduce trouble of cumbersome wiring works such as optical fiber cable installation.
