PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image sensor capable of detecting light with high sensitivity, at each wavelength. SOLUTION: The image sensor 20A comprises a photodiode array part 21, a signal processing part 22, an open/close instruction part 23A, and a control part 24A. Each switch SW<SB>n</SB>, which is provided between a corresponding photodiode PD<SB>n</SB>and a common output line L, performs opening and closing operation in response to instruction from the open/close instruction part 23A, and outputs charges accumulated thus far, in a junction capacitance part of the photodiode PD<SB>n</SB>to the common output line L by closing. Based on the instruction from the instruction part 23A, the opening and closing operation is performed so that each of N pieces of switches SW<SB>1</SB>-SW<SB>N</SB>is laid in a closed state at a different time, and the interval of laying each switch SW<SB>n</SB>in the closed state is an integral multiple of a reference time. Thus, the charge accumulation time for each of the N-pieces of photodiodes PD<SB>1</SB>-PD<SB>N</SB>is set to an integral multiple of the reference time. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
