PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toner satisfying both of excellent low-temperature fixing property and offset resistance, and forming a good high-definition image. SOLUTION: The toner is obtained as follows; toner materials containing an active hydrogen group-containing compound and a polymer capable of reacting with the active hydrogen group-containing compound are dissolved or dispersed in an organic solvent to prepare a toner solution, the toner solution is emulsified or dispersed in an aqueous medium to prepare a dispersion, and the active hydrogen group-containing compound is reacted with the polymer capable of reacting with the active hydrogen group-containing compound in an aqueous medium to form an adhesive base in a particle shape. The polymer capable of reacting with the active hydrogen group-containing compound is a modified polyester resin, the modified polyester resin is produced by condensation polymerization of an acid component and at least one type of diol compound selected from aliphatic diol and alicyclic diol in the presence of a catalyst, and the mass average molecular weight of the modified polyester resin is 10,000-100,000.
