PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a binder resin for electrophotographic toner excellent in charge buildup performance and maintaining good charge stability even in long-term continuous printing, and also to provide an electrophotographic toner containing the binder resin. SOLUTION: The binder resin for electrophotographic toner contains a polycondensate resin obtained by polycondensing an alcohol component and a carboxylic acid component in the presence of a tin (II) compound having no Sn-C bond and an amide compound and/or an amine compound.
