The invention relates to a wheelchair device which is disposed in the tubular structure (2) of the chair and which consists of a support (5) having a lever (7) coupled thereto, said lever comprising at least one wheel (8) at the free end thereof and a pedal (11) which is used to move the wheel such as to raise the chair, thereby enabling the large wheels (4) to be removed and the width of the wheelchair to be reduced. The invention also comprises another pedal (18) which is used to retract and store the device (1), such as to return to the normal operation of the chair.
