<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of discriminating between a registration in the main system and a registration from an external connecting terminal and managing them even in an ID. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus recognizes an operator by a combination of a vein pattern and a fingerprint of a finger, and can be utilized only by such a person who is registered in a recognition data storing means 114. Information related to the vein pattern of the back of the hand or the fingerprint of the finger is taken in by a specified format, and can be registered separately on each individual. The information related to the vein pattern of the back of the hand or the fingerprint of the finger read out by a specified style from the external connection terminal or the like connected can be registered as ID information from the external connection terminal or the like.
