HOT FORMING METHOD AND PRESS THEREFOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify the manufacture of a component which is hot-formed and hardened in a tool and to increase the processing speed. SOLUTION: A lower tool (2) of a press is placed in a liquid bath (5) and a workpiece (7) heated to a temperature exceeding AC3is loaded in the press so as to be above a liquid level (50). An upper tool (1) is travelled toward the lower tool (2). At that time the workpiece (7) is sunk toward the lower tool (2) into the liquid bath (5) so that the forming and hardening of the workpiece (7) is performed during the approach of the upper tool (1) to the lower tool (2).
