<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas sensor enhanced in responsiveness and capable of preventing the crack of a protective cover in its step to prevent the falling-off of the protective cover. <P>SOLUTION: An outside cover 15 having the joint 151 jointed to the whole outer periphery of the leading end part of the main metal fittings 4 of the gas sensor 1 includes the large-diameter part 152 positioned on the leading end side from the leading ends of both of the joint 151 and the main metal fittings 4, a small-diameter part 153 of which the outer diameter and inner diameter are smaller than those of the large-diameter part 152 and the step 154 positioned between the large-diameter part 152 and the small-diameter part 153. When the angle formed by the outer surface (f) of the step 154 of the outside cover 15 and the direction t1 vertical to the axial line direction of the outside cover 15 is set to θ° and the radius of curvature of the apex p1 connecting the small-diameter part 153 of the outside cover 15 and the step 154 is set to R mm, the cross section of the outside cover 15 including its axial line is set to θ>-30R+45. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
