<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems that it is difficult to find a rein when a visually handicapped owner releases the rein of a conventional seeing-eye dog type robot and the conventional seeing-eye dog type robot does not become aware even when the owner is to fall down due to sudden illness or the like. <P>SOLUTION: A robot for guiding the visually handicapped owner by being in contact with him/her like a seeing-eye dog is provided with a means for recognizing the owner and a means for recognizing that the owner is in contact with the robot.
