GLASS MEMBER, PRODUCT USING THE SAME, AND METHOD FOR PRODUCTION OF THE PRODUCT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glass member which comprises a non-alkali glass, is excellent in chemical durability, low expansion property, heat resistance, high permeability, high strength, lightness in weight, and is used for a substrate for mounting the electronic components, a substrate for electronic devices, a liquid crystal cell and an optical device. SOLUTION: The glass member comprises (a) a glass substrate for producing an electronic component-mounting substrate, (b) a glass substrate for joining with a semiconductor substrate, (c) a facing glass substrate for arranging facing a drive substrate in a liquid crystal display or (d) a window material for optical devices. The member comprises a non-alkali glass which has: an average thermal expansion coefficient in the range of from 30 to 300°C of (30 to 35)×10-7/°C; strain point of≥670°C; Young's modulus of≥70 GPa; specific gravity of <2.4; liquid phase temperature of <1,200°C; temperature at the viscosity of 101.5Pa s of <1.600°C; and <1 mg/cm2of the mass decrease after the immersion in an aqueous solution of nitric acid at 50°C having the concentration of 1 mol/L for 50 hr.
