Driver assistance system with navigation system interface

The system has an interface (20) to a navigation system (18) and a mechanism (22) for prediction of elevation profile of the roadway based on the data of the navigation system. The system is formed in such a manner to implement assistance functions (14, 16) based on the predicted profile, where the assistance functions have a function to control the driving speed to a target speed and a distance controlling function.
