A method and a device for processing a document of a facsimile are provided to transmit security documents or e-mail documents after security setting thereof by simple key manipulation and store received documents selectively according to received messages. A method for processing a document of a facsimile includes a control part for transmitting a document or a security setting message to a facsimile at a receiving part in response to user's selection for a security mode, and storing the received document in a memory unit as the security setting is received from a facsimile machine at a transmission part. The control part has a message processing part(110) for generating the security setting message by setting a security setting value to one of NSS(Non Standard Facilities Setup) fields in response to the user's security mode selection. The message processing part stores the document in the memory unit if the received message has the security setting value.
