A thermal printer is provided to readily cut a dummy region of a recording medium and prevent generation of wrinkles in a print region of the recording medium after cutting the dummy region. A thermal printer includes a housing(110), a thermal print head(141), a cassette(120), and a cutter(130). The thermal print head is installed in the housing, and forms a print nip together with a platen roller to apply heat to a recording medium conveyed therebetween. The cassette is partially inserted into one side of the housing to accommodate the recording medium to be supplied to the thermal print head. The cutter is pivotally coupled with an upper surface of the cassette and has a cutting edge to cut a dummy region of the recording medium.
