A first substrate(100) and a second substrate(200) are opposite to each other. A pixel electrode(191) is formed in the first substrate and a common electrode(270) is formed in the second substrate. The pixel electrode and the common electrode are configured to form an electric field. A liquid crystal layer(3) is formed between the first substrate and the second substrate. Tilting members(71,91) each having ridges and sloping surfaces are respectively formed on the first and second substrates. The ridges of the first and second substrates are alternately disposed.
