A transparent solid composition characterized by comprising (a) 1 to 20 mass% dextrin fatty acid ester, (b) 10 to 40 mass% volatile oily matter having a boiling point of 250°C or lower at ordinary pressure, (c) 10 to 40 mass% oily matter having a refractive index of 1.4 to 1.6, and (d) 15 to 60 mass% spherical particles having a refractive index of 1.3 to 1.6 and an average particle diameter of 3 to 30 mum. Also provided is a transparent solid cosmetic preparation which gives an excellent transparent feeling, has the effect of smoothing surface irregularities of the skin and the effect of making the pores inconspicuous, and gives an excellent use feeling.
