<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing apparatus which can manufacture a color combining optical apparatus with high precision. <P>SOLUTION: A positioning mechanism 690 constituting the manufacturing apparatus 600 is equipped with a prism holding section 692 for holding a cross dichroic prism 45 and a positioning mechanism main body 691 which is disposed below the prism holding section 692 in a vertical direction and supports the prism holding section 692. The positioning mechanism main body 691 is equipped with a plane position adjusting section 6912 for adjusting a plane position of the cross dichroic prism 45 by making the cross dichroic prism 45 movable in a plane perpendicular to a vertical direction, an in-plane rotational position adjusting section 6913 for adjusting an in-plane rotational position of the cross dichroic prism 45 by making the cross dichroic prism 45 rotatable in a plane surface and an out-of-plane rotational position adjusting section 6914 for adjusting an out-of-plane rotational position of the cross dichroic prism 45 by making the cross dichroic prism 45 rotatable in an out-of-plane direction of the plane.
