A vehicle seat is constructed so as to be freely adjustable in height by a height adjustment mechanism that has a link mechanism and is provided between a lower rail installed on the vehicle body side and the vehicle seat. A guide plate is installed on the vehicle seat, and a gear plate fixed to the lower rail is installed on the guide plate so as to be rectilinearly movable. A pair of lock arms is installed on the gear plate, and the pair of lock arms engages with a pair of gear sections of the gear plate when a load in an emergency is applied to a seatbelt of a seated person. The pair of gear sections is formed such that an engagement surface of one gear section and an engagement surface of the other gear section are shifted in phase from each other by a half pitch (P).
