An air conditioner is provided to quickly cool the indoor air by operating two cooling cycle in a speed cooling mode. An air conditioner comprises a main compressor(60), condenser(62), and expander(64) sequentially pressing, condensing, and expanding a first coolant; a speed cooling compressor(70) compressing a second coolant; an intermediate heat exchanger(80) cooling the air by evaporation heat of the first coolant discharged from the main expander, and condensing a second coolant discharged from the speed cooling compressor; a speed cooling re-condensor(72) condensing again the second coolant condensed at the speed cooling condenser by heat-exchanging with perimeter air; a speed cooling expander(74) expanding the second coolant discharged from the intermediate heat exchanger; and a speed cooling evaporator(76) installed in front of the intermediate heat exchanger to cool again the air passed through the intermediate heat exchanger by the evaporation heat of the second coolant discharged from the speed cooling expander.
