PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarized beam splitting element, a polarized beam splitting method and an optical device improved both in heat resistance and contrast. SOLUTION: The polarized beam splitting element includes a plurality of polarized beam splitting parts which split beams polarized in directions orthogonal to each other and which are made of an inorganic material. The polarized beam splitting method is carried out by using the polarized beam splitting element having a plurality of polarized beam splitting parts which split beams polarized in directions orthogonal to each other and which are made of an inorganic material, to split beams polarized in directions orthogonal to each other. The optical device includes a polarized beam splitting element having a plurality of polarized beam splitting parts which split beams polarized in directions orthogonal to each other and which are made of an inorganic material.
